Description
Mount Pleasant Cottages is a row of four cottages located on Westborough Lane in Long Bennington. The cottages date from the 17th century, late 18th century, early 19th century, and 20th century. They are constructed of red brick, with some blue lias, and feature pantile roofs at three different levels, supported by two ridge stacks and two gable stacks.
No. 1 has elements of 17th-century blue lias beneath late 18th-century red brick. It features a plain doorcase with a segmental head, a plain door, and two sliding sash windows on the south side, with two additional sash windows above. No. 2, built in the early 19th century to the north of No. 1, has a plain doorcase with a segmental head, a plain door, a single sliding sash window to the south, and a three-light casement window above from the 20th century.
No. 3 is lower than the others and has a three-bay front. It features a plain doorway to the north, two sliding sash windows to the south with a small fixed light between them, and a fixed glazing bar window with a sliding sash above. No. 4, located to the north, has a 20th-century porch, a casement window to the north, and two sliding sash windows above.
