Description

Heggy's Cottage is a cottage that dates from the late 16th century to the mid-19th century. It is constructed of mud and stud, with colourwashed rubble and brick. The cottage features steeply pitched pantile roofs and a central brick ridge stack. It has an L-plan layout, with an early 17th-century addition in the re-entrant angle and a lobby entrance plan. The building is single storey with an attic and has a three-bay front, where the ground floor is encased in rubble and brick.

The central doorway has a plank door, with a single glazing bar sash window to the right and a two-light casement window to the left, all of which have wooden lintels. There are two raking dormers above, both fitted with glazing bar sashes. On the south front, there is a single doorway to the right, which also has a plank door and a wooden lintel. Inside, the mud and stud frame is visible in the upper floor rooms, featuring posts with straight braces to both the plate and tie beams.
