Description

The buildings at 5 and 6 St Mary’s Street date back to the 18th century and were originally a single structure. Number 5 is built of coursed rubble, while number 6 has a painted facade. Both buildings are two storeys high with attics, and feature a steeply pitched roof covered in stone slates, including two dormers, one of which is modern and has four lights. Number 5 has two windows, and number 6 has one, all featuring hung sashes with flush frames and original glazing bars. The ground floor of number 5 now has two bowed modern shop windows beneath a cornice, with bottle glass and glazing bars, and modern stone stall risers. Number 6 has a chamfered jamb to the front door and an 18th-century bowed shop window lacking glazing bars. A medieval stone buttress, extending to the first floor, is located at the south end of the building's elevation. A modern fielded door is present at number 5. Two stacks are situated at the gable ends.

Numbers 2 to 26 St Mary's Street form a group.
