Description

The pump and milestone, located 5 metres north of Home Farmhouse in Belton, is an obelisk structure dating from around 1820, with restorations made in the 20th century. Designed by Jeffry Wyatville, it features an ashlar obelisk set on a panelled square pedestal, accompanied by a panelled square ashlar trough. The front of the obelisk has a panel with recut lettering indicating distances to Lincoln and London, while the rear includes a wrought-iron bracket for the handle. This structure is part of a series of estate buildings created by Wyatville for John, the first Earl Brownlow of Belton House.
