Description

BELTON & MANTHORPE SK9239 MAIN STREET, Belton 1315-0/8/56 (South side) Chest tomb 5 metres north-west of Church of St Peter and St Paul GV II

Chest tomb. Dated 1927. By Sir Edwin Lutyens to Adelbert Cust, 5th Baron Brownlow, of Belton House. Portland stone and slate. Cruciform chest with moulded base and cornice, set on a cove-moulded plinth. The chest has inscriptions and a coat of arms in relief on each side. On top, an incised slate slab.
