Description
A farmhouse, dating from the mid-18th century, and remodelled in the mid-19th century. It is built of coursed limestone rubble, with limestone ashlar detailing and some rendered sections. The building has a hipped slate roof, marked by red tiles, and ashlar modillioned eaves. There are two ridge stacks and a single ridge stack to the rear. The house is arranged in an L-shape.
The three-bay front elevation has quoins, first and second floor bands, and a plinth. It features single, two-light mullion windows in the cellar, flanking a central doorway. The doorway is recessed within an ashlar porch featuring Doric columns and pilasters, a broad entablature, and a moulded cornice. Above the door is a traceried overlight, and the door is panelled. Single glazing bar sashes flank the doorway, with three glazing bar sashes above. A further three smaller glazing bar sashes are located above these. The west side has two bays, with a lower range set beyond to the left. A doorway to the left has a semi-circular head and double, partially glazed doors. A glazing bar sash is to the right, with two glazing bar sashes above, and two smaller glazing bar sashes above them.
The interior includes a mid-19th century staircase, a simple white marble fireplace, and cast iron bedroom fireplaces. A pump, copper, and bread oven remain in working order in the back kitchen. The main kitchen has two large, irregularly chamfered beams.
