Description
Village Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from around 1800. It is constructed of red brick with brick dressings and features hipped and gabled slate roofs, along with two coped brick ridge stacks and a wooden soffit. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The windows are mainly casements with rubbed brick segmental heads.
Prominently, there is a central half-round bay window topped with a conical roof, which contains a two-light wooden framed Gothick cross casement. Below this bay window, there is a six-panel door with a two-light fanlight, both in Gothick style, and a splayed lintel. To the right of the door, there is a three-light casement on each floor, while to the left, there are blocked windows on both floors. The right return of the building has a blank wall to the left, followed by two casements, and below these, there is a blank space and a three-light casement.
At the rear, there is a slightly recessed wing that is also two storeys high and has three windows. This farmhouse is likely one of those built or altered between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory, who was the Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton.
