Description

Jasmine Cottage is an estate cottage, dating to around 1800. It was originally built as an estate building, and is now used as a house. The exterior is rendered and whitewashed, with ashlar stone dressings and a hipped slate roof. A central hexagonal ashlar chimney stack rises from the roof ridge. The cottage is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The windows are mullioned casements with leaded glazing; the ground floor windows are larger than those above. There is a central single-light window, flanked by two-light windows. A central porch with a flat roof and pointed arched openings leads to an inner plank door, with two-light windows on either side. Canted bay windows are present at each end, each with a two-light window on both floors. The building is one of several built or altered between 1790 and 1820 by George de Ligne Gregory, and subsequently altered between 1820 and 1840 by Gregory Gregory, who were successive Lords of the Manor of Harlaxton.
