Description
Nos 8 and 9 on Broad Street are mid-18th century houses that stand two storeys tall. They are rendered and topped with a slate roof featuring end stacks. The buildings have three windows, although one is blocked and none have glazing bars. A notable feature is the well-crafted moulded wood eaves cornice. Number 9 boasts an attractive simple doorcase with reeded pilasters, open pediments, glazed fanlights, and panelled ingoes. In contrast, number 8 has a modern window and shop front on the ground floor. Additionally, there is a sundial set into modern brick on the side. Nos 8 and 9, along with the Museum of the Spalding Gentlemen's Society, form a cohesive group.
