Description
The Black Swan Public House, occupied by Rodi Property Co Ltd, is an early 18th-century building located on New Road. It is two storeys high and has a cement-rendered exterior with a modern asbestos pantile roof and two brick stacks. The façade features five windows, arranged in a 2-3 configuration, separated by pilasters at both ends and throughout the storeys, topped with ball finials. There is a moulded cornice and a small parapet. The windows have rusticated lintels, although the window design is from the 19th century, and there is a cast iron balcony supported by brackets at the first floor. The entrance consists of a plain door with four panels, accompanied by foot-scrapers and a rendered plinth. A portion of the ground floor has been modified with a modern shop front to the left. The building is part of a group with Nos 13 to 16, which are also of local interest.
