Description
Pode Hole Pumping Station is a drainage pumping station built in 1825, with alterations made in the later 19th century and 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves, which is now part of a later structure. Originally, it had a two-bay front with tall semi-circular blank arches; currently, the left arch contains a cast iron window, while the right has planked double doors. To the left, there is a later 19th-century bay with a semi-circular arch and cast iron windows, topped with a ramped ashlar coped parapet. On the front, there is a large painted board displaying the bye-laws of the Deeping Fen Spalding and Pinchbeck Drainage Board, dated 1876. In front of the building, there is a keystone dated 1866, which is part of a mounting block and is inscribed with "Sharps Bridge Keystone."
