Description
Cheal House, screen, gate, and wall piers were built around 1800 and altered around 1840. The structure is made of red brick in Flemish bond with a slate roof, featuring brick coped gables and two gable stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories tall with a three-bay front. The central entrance has a panelled door with semi-circular reveals, a plain overlight, and a plain pilastered surround topped with a flat hood supported by scrolled brackets. This entrance is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three margin light sashes. All windows are adorned with flat splayed stucco lintels that have fluted keyblocks. In front of the house, there are piers, a gate, and railings, with cast iron spear terminals on the screen and a matching gate with newels, alongside tall corner brick piers topped with painted ashlar acorn finials.
