Description

Crondall House is a former staff house, dating to 1902, built in the Italianate style. Constructed from coursed limestone rubble with a slate hipped roof and two bracketed chimney stacks, it was originally part of St John’s Hospital. The west front features four bays, with a projecting porch positioned off-centre and displaying an ashlar coped parapet. A single glazing bar sash window and a doorway are located to the right return of the porch. To the right of the porch is a pair of glazing bar sashes, and to the left, a single glazing bar sash. The upper floor has two single glazing bar sashes and one pair. The building has raised quoins, a chamfered plinth, a cill band, a first floor band, and dentilated eaves. All window openings have raised ashlar surrounds with segment heads and flush keystones.
