Description
Norfolk House is a former staff house, built in 1902, that has recently been used as offices. It is designed in the Italianate style and constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and a hipped slate roof. The building features two bracketed stacks, raised quoins, a chamfered plinth, a cill band, an impost band, a first-floor band, and dentilated eaves.
The south front is two storeys high and has three bays, with a central projecting porch that has an ashlar-coped parapet. It includes a single round-headed plain sash window, with a round-headed doorway and fan light on the left return. There are single plain sash windows on either side, and above, there are three plain sashes.
The west front also has three bays, featuring two plain sashes on the left and a two-storey stone canted bay window on the right, which has three plain sashes on each floor. Above, there are two plain sashes to the left. Most windows are surrounded by raised ashlar with segmental heads and flush keystones. Norfolk House was built as part of St John's Hospital.
