Description
The Church of St Luke is a parish church built in 1877, designed by Drury and Mortimer. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof, tumbled gables, and a chamfered brick plinth. The church has a wave-shaped chancel and a south porch. The west front includes a single, central buttress that is flanked by pointed arch windows with recessed ashlar surrounds and tracery, each containing two lights with a quatrefoil. At the top of the gable, there is an octagonal wooden louvred bellcote with a small octagonal spire, supported by the central buttress.
On the north nave wall, there are four tall pointed arch lancets, while the chancel features two smaller lancets, also with recessed ashlar surrounds and tracery. The east wall of the chancel has a large pointed arch window with a recessed ashlar surround and tracery, consisting of three lights topped by two quatrefoils and a large central trefoil. The south chancel wall has two small lancets with recessed ashlar surrounds and tracery, and the nave has three tall lancets. Additionally, there is a projecting gabled porch with a pointed archway that has a double chamfered surround and ashlar impost blocks. The interior has not been inspected.
