Description
This building is a cottage located to the west of The Golden Cross Public House in Billinghay. It dates from the early 18th century, with later alterations made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. The structure is timber-framed and constructed of red brick, featuring a thatched half-hipped roof that is now covered with corrugated iron sheeting. The cottage is a single storey and has four bays.
The east front wall has been refronted in late 18th century brick, with some parts renewed in the 20th century using brick and some breeze blocks. Timber posts are visible at the corners and on the gable walls. The entrance is off-centre and features a plank door, flanked on either side by a single 2-light glazing bar sliding sash window. To the left of the entrance is a single fixed light window. Adjacent to the cottage is a late 18th century brick outhouse with a pantile roof, which includes a single 6-panel door and a large 3-light glazing bar sliding sash window. The Golden Cross Public House itself is not included in this listing.
