Description

The entrance to the gas works, built in the mid-19th century and likely designed by architect Kendall, is a two-storey structure made of coursed stone. It features end pavilions with gabled roofs and two-storey rectangular bays, each containing three mullion lights. The building has slate roofs and a plinth. The lower linking sections include two windows with two lights on each storey. There are arched doorways with splayed reveals, and the central section is taller, supported by angle buttresses. A full-height carriage entry is topped with a rectangular dripmould beneath a crow-stepped pediment that displays a heraldic shield.
