Description

The archway, known as the East Gate to Coleby Hall, is a gateway built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from rough-cut stone and features a semi-circular arched opening with a prominent central keystone. The design imitates a ruined Roman arch, drawing inspiration from the Lincoln Newport Arch. This structure was commissioned by Thomas Scrope and designed with the assistance of Sir William Chambers around 1780.
