Description

This is a village school and schoolmaster’s house, built in 1869 and designed by Sir G G Scott. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with a decorated ridge plate. It comprises cross-gabled wings at each end, with ashlar coped gables and kneelers. Four moulded stacks are present.

The eastern wing houses the school rooms. It features a tall three-light cross transom and mullion window, alongside six two-light windows of a similar style, one of which is taller and projects into the gable. Dormer windows are also present in the gables. The western wing is a two-storey schoolmaster's house, which includes a splayed bay window with a cross transom and mullion window. Above a three-light mullion window is a pointed relieving arch and, to the east, a lean-to wooden half-glazed porch with a plank door and barge-boarded gable above, topped with a small wooden dormer window.
