Description
Hilton Cottage is a house built in the mid-19th century, constructed from brick with stucco dressings and a slate roof featuring a ridge stack. The building has a plinth, a first-floor band, and wooden eaves with modillions. It stands two storeys plus garrets and has two bays. The windows are primarily glazing bar sashes with stucco surrounds.
On the east side, there is a latticed tent-roofed wooden porch that covers a rendered doorcase, with a sash window above it leading to the garret. The north side features two glazing bar sashes, with two more sashes above. The west end, facing Steep Hill, has a square wooden oriel window supported by brackets, complete with a cast-iron balcony railing. Above this oriel window is a sash, and above that, another glazing bar sash.
The exterior includes a brick wall with stone coping to the south, topped with an iron spearhead railing. To the left of the wall, there is a segment-headed door. The interior has not been inspected.
