Description

Numbers 27 and 29 are two houses located on Sewell Road, dated 1864 and late 19th century. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature hipped and gabled slate roofs, along with three side wall stacks. The buildings have a plinth and a first-floor band, standing two storeys tall, with a three-storey tower on the west side, and consist of four bays.

No. 27, on the left, showcases moulded cornices and bracketed eaves. The ground floor openings have round heads, while the first floor features segmental heads. The west end includes a projecting tower with a moulded first-floor band and a glazing bar sash window on each floor. The top floor has two small round-headed windows. On each side, there is a square bay window with a cornice and glazing bar sash, with an additional glazing bar sash above, the one on the right being blank.

The south front of No. 27 has a square porch on the right with a parapet and a doorway featuring a keystone, an inner glazed door, and a fanlight. To the left, there is a square bay window with a cornice and a glazing bar sash, with two glazing bar sashes above.

No. 29, on the right, has a coped gabled wing on the left, which includes a canted bay window with a parapet and four cusped pointed arched lights with transoms. Above this bay window is a three-light mullioned window with a gabled niche above, inscribed with "St Anne's Lodge, 1864." To the right, there is a set-back red brick addition with a stepped parapet and an angle buttress to the east. This addition features a two-light window with ogee pointed heads, and above it, a two-light stone mullioned window. The east side has a doorway flanked by buttresses and a two-storey bay window with a parapet.

The exterior also includes an attached brick boundary wall with stepped moulded blue brick coping and two pointed arched doorways, each with stone tablets inscribed "St Anne's House."
