Description

This is a former lodge, dating from approximately 1883, and now used as a house. It was originally part of Bracebridge Hall. The building is constructed of red brick with blue brick dressings, incorporating decorative sham timber framing with coloured tile and Adamantine Clinkers, under a shaped plain tile roof. It has single side wall and gable stacks, and is designed in the Tudor Gothic Revival style.

The building features a chamfered plinth, brick bands, a jettied first floor supported on brackets, fretted bargeboards, and gable finials. It is two storeys high with a T-plan layout. The ground floor has segmental pointed casement windows with patterned brick heads. The east side includes a wing with two casements, above which is a hipped wooden oriel with a two-light pointed arched window. A lean-to porch is positioned in the return angle, featuring two smaller casements and a door in the north end, alongside a single casement. Above the porch is a large gabled dormer with a two-light pointed arched window. The north gable has two casements, and above them, another oriel with a two-light pointed arched window. A single-storey range with a half-hipped roof adjoins the north gable, featuring two small casements and a single casement to the west, surmounted by a crest. A coped wall encloses the kitchen yard on the west side. A gabled wing, containing a segment-headed door and an oriel with a two-light pointed arched window above, is situated to the right of the west side.

The interior of the building has not been inspected.
