Description
No. 263 Brant Road is a former Chartist cottage, now a house, built around 1845. The structure is made of random rubble, partly whitewashed, and features a concrete tile roof. It is a single-storey building with three bays arranged in a T-plan. The windows are late 20th-century casements. A projecting gabled porch with a doorway is flanked by single windows, and there are larger windows on either side of the porch. The interior has not been inspected. This building is one of six constructed for a Chartist land settlement, sponsored by the then owner of Red Hall, and was visited and approved by Feargus O'Connor, MP, who was the founder and leader of the Chartists.
