Description
Thatched Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage with 19th-century alterations, located on the east side of Main Street in Horsington. The building features a mud and stud structure underbuilt in brick, which is painted white. It has a half-hipped thatched roof with decorative eaves and a single ridge stack. The cottage is a single storey with attics and has a four-bay front. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a half-glazed door flanked by glazing bar sliding sash windows. To the right, there is an additional similar window. All openings are topped with timber lintels. Under the eaves, there is a two-light attic window with a thatched eyebrow. Inside, the floor timbers and beams are all exposed and date from the late 18th to early 19th centuries. In the attic, some original timber stud posts remain, and the roof features a nailed construction with partly clasped purlins and staggered purlins.
