Description
Burgh House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made around 1830. It is constructed of red brick with painted stucco dressings and features a slate roof with overhanging bracketed wooden eaves and two hip stacks. The building has three storeys and a five-bay front, with flat bands on the first and second floors.
The central doorway is framed by a porch that has a 19th-century open pediment supported by ornate brackets and freestanding fluted columns, with a fielded panelled soffit. Inside the porch, there is a semi-circular headed doorway with patched brick jambs, a reeded doorcase, an ornate reveal, a traceried fanlight, and a three-quarter glazed door. On either side of the doorway, there are two long glazing bar sashes, with possible remnants of blinds above. Above these, there are five glazing bar sashes and three smaller glazing bar sashes above them, all featuring painted wedge lintels.
