Description

Stourton Old Hall Ruin is a fragmentary ruin of a country house dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond, featuring diaper work, ashlar quoins, and dressings. The structure has no surviving floors or roof timbers. It consists of two chambers with a central hearth and stands two storeys high, with a moulded ashlar plinth. Although the openings have lost their original shape, some stones of the ashlar moulded surrounds remain. The house was abandoned by 1810 when the Livesey family purchased the estate and built a new hall in Stourton Park.
