Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory that has been converted into a house and pump. The rear wing likely started as an early 17th century mud and stud cottage, while the front range dates from the 17th century and was altered in 1709, with further changes made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with lined render and features pantile roofs.

It is two storeys high with a three-bay front that includes external stacks and end pilasters. The central entrance has a half-glazed door set in a plain wooden surround, topped by a narrow hood from the 20th century. On either side of the door are single glazing bar sash windows with cambered heads. The first floor has three smaller glazing bar sash windows. The left-hand stack displays a datestone inscribed "WB + 1709".

The rear range has a 20th century tumbled gable and a ridge stack, following a lobby entry plan. It is a single storey with attics and has a three-bay front featuring a 20th century two-storey porch. The porch contains a 20th century door flanked by single 20th century three-light casement windows. On the first floor of the porch, there is a two-light casement window flanked by single two-light raking dormers with rendered cheeks.

Inside, the earlier rear wing has a simply chamfered beam and bressumer, while the front range features an elaborate double stop to the beam.
