Description

Market Stainton Hall is a small country house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stock brick and has a hipped slate roof with four ridge stacks. The front facade, facing north, is two storeys and three bays, featuring a central doorway with an Ionic porch, an entablature, a traceried fanlight, a reeded doorcase, and partially glazed double doors. The porch is flanked by single, long glazing bar sashes, with three glazing bar sashes above. All windows have shaped blind hoods. The south-east front presents two storeys and five bays with five glazing bar sashes on the ground floor and five glazing bar sashes above, the rightmost window having a shaped blind hood. The interior features a hall with a cantilevered staircase possessing plain bannisters, decorated tread ends, and a moulded handrail. Above the staircase is a lantern dome and an arcaded first-floor landing with reeded pilasters. A fine contemporary fireplace with white and yellow marble decoration is located in the drawing room.
