Description

The Elms is an early 19th-century house with alterations from the later 19th century. It is constructed of pale buff brick with stucco dressings, and has a hipped slate roof with two wall stacks. The front is two storeys and three bays, featuring a central six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight within a doorcase of fluted pilasters and a dentilated open pediment. Flanking the door are later 19th-century canted bay windows with hipped slate roofs. The first floor has three glazing bar sashes with splayed stucco lintels. A 20th-century conservatory is attached to the right. The interior retains contemporary doors, fireplaces, and an elegant dogleg staircase with slender balusters and a carved string.
