Description
Grebby Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, with extensions and alterations made in the mid-18th century, early 19th century, and late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features hipped roofs made of concrete tiles and slate, with ridge stacks located at the rear. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys with a garret, presenting a three-bay front where the central bay is slightly advanced. The entrance consists of central double doors with six panels and a traceried fanlight, framed by an open pedimented pilastered doorcase, with glazing bar sash sidelights on either side. Flanking the entrance are two-storey canted bay windows, which were rebuilt in the late 19th century and topped with hipped slate roofs. Above the door is a tripartite sash window, adorned with a late 19th-century dentillated and pedimented cornice supported by scrolled brackets. The side front features a plinth, brick bands on the first and second floors, and glazing bar sash windows. Inside, the house retains a 17th-century chamfered and stopped beam in the rear range, along with a stick baluster staircase that has a carved string and a wreathed handrail.
