Description
Tothby Manor House is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and around 1840. It is constructed of small red bricks and features a slate roof with overhanging eaves and a verge that has a bargeboard. The house is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with a garret. Its front has five bays, with a central half-glazed door flanked by a pair of plain sash windows that have cambered heads. On the first floor, there are five similar windows. The house is located next to a moated enclosure, which is the site of the early Tothby Manor, the residence of the founder of the 14th-century Church of St. Wilfrid. The manor was purchased by Sir Robert Christopher in the mid 17th century when the current house was first constructed.
