Description

This is an early 18th-century barn with an attached saddlery, later adapted into loose boxes and storage space. The barn is constructed of red brick in English bond and has a steeply pitched pantile roof with brick coped tumbled gables. It is a two-storey building with a plinth and three offsets, with eaves corbelled out. A brick lean-to addition has been built to the front, incorporating an original advanced entry bay. The left-hand gable features a planked door and two fixed lights with louvres below. All openings have segmental heads, and brick initial ties β€œIT” are visible in the gables. Internally, the barn retains opposed advanced entry bays and a Queen strut roof with staggered butt purlins. Elms farmhouse is not included in the listing.
