Description
Number 48 is a house built around 1830, with some minor alterations from the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof, along with two wall stacks on the left side, which are partly external.
The house has two storeys plus a basement and a two-bay front. The door, located to the left, has two vertical panels and a bordered overlight, set within a plain pilastered surround that includes a moulded cornice on carved console brackets. Access to the door is via four stone steps. To the left of the door is a tall glazing bar sash window, with a smaller sash window beneath it for the basement and two similar smaller sashes on the first floor. All front windows have flat wedge ashlar lintels with fluted keystones.
On the left side, there is a semicircular glazing bar stair window, with a glazing bar sash below it. To the right, there is a similar window on the ground floor and a 20th-century window above. The sashes feature plain ashlar wedge lintels.
In front of the property, there is a cast-iron screen with alternating plain spike and spearhead terminal railings. The interior has not been inspected.
