Description
The walls and stable block to Frampton Hall date from the 18th century and were altered in the mid-19th century in a fanciful Baroque revival style. Constructed from red brick with ashlar and stucco dressings, the building features ribbed pantile roofs and stone-coped and brick-coped gables with tumbling. The T-shaped stable block forms one wall of the front court of the house, while the surrounding walls enclose the court and define the entrance to the rear yard on the east side.
The stable range is two stories high and has dogtooth eaves. It includes a semi-circular headed doorway with a stucco surround, flanked by single glazing bar lights, and another semi-circular headed doorway above. The left wing features two wide segmental-headed brick rusticated archways, one with double planked doors and the other with blocking and a later three-light glazing bar window. Further left is a smaller semi-circular headed doorway with a rusticated surround.
On the south side, there are three glazing bar sash windows with segmental brick heads, ashlar cills, and keyblocks linked to a band. The brick walls have elaborately corbelled battlemented tops that end in brick piers with similar detailing. The wall facing the front court has two planked doors set in openings with pecked rusticated ashlar surrounds, one of which is stepped up, and it also contains a recessed terracotta and plaster plaque.
