Description
Kirton House is a former house that has been converted into an office. It was built in the early 19th century and features red brick in Flemish bond with a Westmoreland slate roof and stone coped gables, along with two gable brick stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and has three storeys with a three-bay front, which includes a plinth and a dentillated wooden eaves cornice.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped with a pointed Gothick fanlight, set in wooden panelled reveals and an open pedimented wooden doorcase. This entrance is flanked by single canted bay windows that have flat lead roofs and pilasters at the angles. On the first floor, there are three plain sash windows, while the second floor features three smaller, similar windows. All windows are adorned with flat rubbed brick arched heads. At the rear of the building, there is a lower two-storey service range, but 20th-century extensions to the rear are not included in this description.
