Description

This is a house, likely dating to around 1800. It is located in Long Whatton, close to Diseworth. The house is constructed of brick, with some areas repointed in the 20th century, and sits on a plastered stone plinth with brick quoins. It has a slate roof with brick gable copings and a brick chimney between the left-hand bays.

The house is two storeys high, with an attic and a cellar, and has three bays. The windows are mostly 3-light wooden casements, with those on the ground floor left-hand side having segmental heads, although the lights have been renewed in hardwood. The right-hand bay features a 19th-century shop window with a bowed wooden oriel, composed of four rows of three lights, and a plain frieze. A four-panelled door with a segmental head is located to the left of the shop window, and is approached by a double flight of 19th-century brick steps with stone treads. These steps are flanked by 19th-century iron railings featuring fleur-de-lys and sword-handle finials. A cellar opening is situated to the left of the entrance. The gables contain attic casements.

The rear of the property includes a lean-to addition and a later two-storey wing, which was previously used as a bakery but has had its ovens removed.
