Description

The War Memorial with attached railings, piers, gate, and lamps is a First World War memorial designed by architect Thomas Henry Fosbrooke from the Leicester architectural practice of Fosbrooke and Bedingfield. It was unveiled on 8 June 1922. The memorial is constructed of Charnwood slate and sandstone, featuring an arch that contains a cross and a sandstone hood. It has a railed front wall with a gate and side lamps set on a stone plinth with metal columns. The enclosure continues to the rear with railed sections and Charnwood slate interval piers. Additionally, there is a plaque commemorating those who died during the Second World War.
