Description
Nos 94 and 96 on Market Street are early to mid 19th century buildings. They are constructed of brick and feature wide bracketed eaves, along with a slate roof that has a shallow pitch and irregular chimneys. The entrance to the former Court 20 is located at the rear between the two premises.
No 94 is painted brick and consists of three storeys with two windows that have 19th century style casements. It has a notable 19th century advanced shop front, although some alterations have been made. The windows, which have vertical glazing bars only, are positioned beside a central door. This building also features a bracketed cornice and frieze with a brick surround.
No 96 is also painted brick and has three storeys with one window that contains sashes with late 19th century glazing. It has a well-preserved 19th century advanced shop front, with some alterations as well. The shop front includes a three-light shop window and a side door, along with a bracketed cornice and frieze, and a stucco surround.
Both buildings are included in Grade II for their group value and shop fronts.
