Description
Hemington House Farmhouse is a house dated 1729, as indicated by a terracotta tablet on the left gable. It features a 19th-century rear wing and has undergone 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick, with a plinth that was originally stone but has mostly been rebuilt in brick. It has a plain tile roof and rebuilt flanking brick chimneys. The house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. There is a dentilled band course at the first floor level and brick eaves with a double row of dentils. The 20th-century barred wooden casements are all two-lights with opening top-lights, while the lower windows retain original flat brick arches that have been repointed. The off-centre 19th-century four-panelled door features a rectangular fanlight and a moulded wooden doorcase, which includes square paterae and a simple board cornice. The gable ends have blocked windows and later single attic casements. The 19th-century single-storey rear wing includes 20th-century casements and a door.
