Description

Hemington House is an early 19th-century house located on Main Street in Lockington-Hemington. The house is constructed of red brick with a hipped slate roof, flat eaves, and two brick chimneys. It is two storeys high with three bays. It features four-pane sash windows with elaborately gauged brick heads and painted stone sills. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a marginally-glazed rectangular fanlight, set within a painted render doorcase featuring attached Doric columns, a diaper-panelled frieze, and a cornice. The entrance is accessed by three stone steps. The right side of the house displays two bays of four-pane sashes; the left side has later 19th-century two-storey brick extensions, one of which incorporates a projecting double garage entrance. The group value of this building lies in its contribution to the streetscape.
