Description
The ruins of the former parish church are located in Hemington. The church features a 14th-century chancel and the east responds of the nave arcades, while the 13th-century tower completely collapsed in April 1986. The structure is made of rubble stone and has no roof. The chancel retains most of its shell walls, which include a chamfered plinth and offset buttresses. There are two bays of 14th-century two-light Decorated windows that have remnants of cusped tracery and double chamfered surrounds, along with a similar three-light east window. A later doorway has been inserted into the south wall. The chancel arch is double chamfered and rests on semi-octagonal piers with moulded capitals. Similar piers attached to the west wall are the only remnants of the nave arcade.
