Description
The Baptist Chapel, built in 1862, is a Grade II listed building located on the west side of Brook Street. It is constructed of red brick with a plinth and features a gable end that faces Market Street. The roof is not visible. The chapel has brick pilasters that flank the side bays and stands two storeys tall, with a total of four windows. The two central windows are paired and have round arches with keystones, while stone bands create a moulded string course at the impost height. Between the central windows, there is an engaged stone pillar.
On the ground floor, the outer windows are topped with stone cornices and also feature a moulded string course at the impost height. All windows are adorned with geometric designs in latticed glazing. The central portico has a cornice that is flush with the facade and is supported by engaged outer stone pillars, with steps leading up to it. The side facade contains four windows and two bays that are slightly lower at the northern end. All first-floor windows are round arched, while the ground floor windows have flat arches. The southern four windows have the same geometric glazing as those on the main facade.
