Description
31 Hall Gate is a house dating from the late 17th century that underwent significant renovations in the early 1980s. It features a timber frame with small tension braces, with 20th-century brick infill at the front and colourwashed render infill on the right gable. Some of the timbers have been completely renewed in the 20th century. A rubble stone base suggests that the house originally extended further to the right, while the current right end has a 20th-century brick base. The house has a slate roof and a central brick chimney that was rebuilt in the 20th century. It is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. The front has three-light horizontal sash windows, which were renewed in the 20th century, along with a 20th-century attic casement and a boarded door in the right gable. There is also a single-storey extension at the rear, designed to match the style of the original house. This building is included for its group value.
