Description
Manor Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse, restored in 1846 and with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed and squared ironstone and brick with limestone ashlar dressings, and has steep pitched Swithland slate roofs. The farmhouse has a chamfered plinth, coped gables with kneelers and finials, two paired coped stone gable stacks, a large plain gable stack, and a 20th-century ridge stack. It is two and three storeys high, with a cross-plan layout and four bays.
The west front features an off-centre two-storey porch with a moulded round-headed doorway, a diamond keystone, and a square hood mould. Above the doorway is a two-light mullioned casement, and above that, an oval window. To the right of the porch, a set-back bay has a blocked window, and above it, a cross-mullioned casement with a flat hood. Further to the left is a set-back two-storey parapeted bay containing a two-light cross-mullioned casement. To the far right is a gabled three-storey wing with a two-light mullioned casement on each floor, and an oval window in the gable peak. In the return angle to the south, a two-light mullioned casement is located on the third floor.
The south elevation has a projecting two-storey wing to the left with a 19th-century three-light mullioned casement with a transom. Above this are two two-light mullioned casements, all with flat hoods. The south gable contains a 19th-century four-light cross-mullioned casement, and above it, on each floor, two small chamfered casements with flat hoods. An oval window is set in the gable peak.
The east side has an off-centre two-storey gabled porch with a moulded round-headed doorway and a hood mould. There is a plaster vaulted porch chamber and a blocked Tudor arched inner doorway. Above the porch are two two-light mullioned casements, and an oval window in the gable peak. To the left of the porch is a set-back bay with a blocked window and a cross casement above. To the right, a set-back two-storey parapeted bay contains a four-light cross-mullioned casement. Above this, to the left, is a 19th-century casement, and to the right, a cross casement with a flat hood. Beyond, and to the right, is a three-storey gabled wing with a cross casement. Above this is a blocked cross casement and, above again, a blocked mullioned casement. A blocked oval window sits in the gable peak.
The rear elevation has late 19th-century additions to the left featuring an off-centre gabled porch with a close-boarded door and overlight, flanked to the left by two 19th-century cross casements. A lean-to porch extends beyond. To the right is a glazing bar sash with a wooden lintel, and above it, a sliding sash. Above again is the main north gable, with a mullioned casement and a similar casement above it. A blocked oval window is also present.
