Description
The Blue Dog is a farmhouse that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the late 18th century, with additions from the 19th and late 20th centuries. The building is constructed from coursed and squared limestone, topped with slate and concrete tile roofs, and features three brick gable stacks. It is two storeys high and has two bays, arranged in an L-plan.
The south front includes a central late 20th-century gabled glazed porch set on a stone plinth, with a close boarded door located on the left side. This porch is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. Above the porch, there are two similar sash windows. On the west side, there is an off-centre late 20th-century single bay addition, which has a lean-to porch with a close boarded door at the return angle. To the right of this porch, there is a three-light sliding sash window with a wooden lintel. Above this window, to the right, is a re-sited enamel road sign from around 1930.
