Description
This is a table tomb located 11 meters south of the nave of the Church of St Helen, dedicated to the Smith family. It dates from around 1800, although the interments are from various dates. The tomb is made of limestone and has a rectangular shape with a moulded plinth and recessed clasping pilasters at the corners, which are reeded. It features oval inscription panels that are arranged either vertically or horizontally, depending on the space available. The top slab is moulded, and the tomb is surrounded by wrought iron railings. The railings have circular corner posts that end in urn finials, and they consist of alternate square section verticals and rectangular section serpentine verticals. These railings pass through a plain top rail and finish with twin foxglove finials.
