Description
A pair of cottages, likely originally a single dwelling, dating from the late medieval period, specifically the 15th and 16th centuries, with later additions. The cottages are partly timber framed, partly limestone rubble, and partly brick. They have a plain tiled roof and are two stories high. The building is divided into three sections. The left-hand section appears to be largely a rebuild from the early 20th century in brick, with a jettied upper floor. This features a gabled porch to the right and a pair of two-light casement windows to the left. A central section is a blank limestone rubble wall, followed by a recessed section of brickwork. The right-hand section is jettied, with some exposed timber framing showing an ornate criss-cross of struts and post-and-rail detail in one corner. The wall plate overhangs the brick section and continues into the limestone rubble. A low projecting gable is to the right of this, with a small window beyond. There is a doorway within the gable. The building has gable and axial stacks.
