Description

Stud Farmhouse and Farm Buildings is a late 18th-century farmhouse that underwent superficial remodelling in the mid-19th century. The structure is built of red brick with burnt headers in Flemish bond, topped by a plain tiled roof featuring bands of fishscale tiles and ridge cresting. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with a central door located in a gabled porch. This door is flanked by two and three-light casement windows that have cambered brick heads. The upper windows are of two lights and do not relate closely to the half-timbered gabled dormers, which are clearly a Victorian addition. There are two axial stacks on the building.

To the right of the farmhouse, there is a range of stabling and other buildings that continue the line of the house and form three sides of a yard. The range along the street has an 18th-century core, characterized by red and blue brickwork, while the rest of the structure dates from the early 19th century. On one gable wall of the earlier range, part of a date, 17-5, is visible, which has been cut by an inserted loft access. The remaining buildings exhibit the style typical of the Shenton Estate, featuring brick detailing with deep dentilled eaves cornices and chamfered surrounds for windows and doors.
