Description
Orton House Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse built of red brick in Flemish bond, topped with a slate roof and featuring brick end stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall, with storey bands and dentilled eaves, and the second floor has reduced proportions. The front has a regular five-window arrangement, with the centre bay being narrower. The first-floor centre window is a glazing bar sash, while the other windows are 19th-century casements set within 18th-century openings that have gauged brick heads, which are very slightly arched. There are two stone steps leading up to a central five-panel door that has raised panels, a pilastered and pedimented door case, and a fanlight with webbed radiating glazing bars.
