Description
Grange Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on Upton Lane in Higham-on-the-Hill, shown on the Ordnance Survey map as Stoke Grange. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile roof with brick end stacks. The building has three storeys and a dentilled eaves band, with reduced proportions on the second floor. The front of the house has a regular arrangement of five windows, with the central window being narrower than the others. It contains 18th-century glazing bar sashes with segmental heads, although the glazing bars have been removed from the lower panes. There are 20th-century top opening casements on the second floor within the original 18th-century openings. The central entrance features a four-panel door with raised and fielded panels, a rectangular overlight, reeded pilasters, and an open pediment. Inside, the farmhouse has a through-passage plan and a staircase with stick balusters and a turned foot newel.
